Hello TASP Family, Colleagues, Sponsors and Friends,
Let me take this opportunity to say thank you all for welcoming me into the TASP family! I have felt genuine kindness from every person I have met thus far and I greatly appreciate your openness and willingness to assist me during TASP’s transition period.
First, above all else, I am here to serve the students. They are the number one priority! We will continue to be the fully accredited, safe, nurturing place for them to engage in academic enrichment, cultural awareness, creative arts, and physical activities such as dance, sports and drama.
Next, please know that I am dedicated to the mission of TASP and every mission needs a vision. The vision I have for the present and future of TASP has three components, Organization, Collaboration and Expansion. Here are a few details for each segment:
a) Organization- We can only provide the best for our children when we are operating with a clear plan in all the branches of the TASP family tree. Setting up procedures and putting them into action in a spirit of excellence is the ultimate goal.
b) Collaboration- TASP has the ability to connect with many different organizations for the overall good of the program. I am committed to reaching out and finding partnerships that will enrich the lives of our children through the spirit of volunteerism and educational programs, especially between the Trenton and Princeton communities. After all, two churches, one in Princeton and the other in Trenton set the example for us all when they started TASP in 1986.
c) Expansion- TASP received a grant from the New Jersey After3 Program. Tina and others worked diligently to obtain the Joyce Kilmer site. This has opened doors to endless possibilities for TASP in the area of growth and development. We will monitor the program and its successfulness and take the next steps in the coming years to acquire other sites.
Finally, as we step up to the next level, know that I am here to make sure that TASP remains a “family”. Accordingly, there are the inevitable “growing pains” but together we will continue our longevity in the community and persistently endeavor towards the cultivation of the mind/body/spirit of every child that enters our doors.
With warmest regards, Ralonda Ivy Smith
