 STUDENT TESTIMONIAL

Testimonial by Rasheeda Robinson
continued

I saw how much this program guided me throughout life and showed me that education is the key that opens all doors, and I was inspired. Today, because of the Trenton After School Program, I stand before you a college graduate and an elementary school teacher. I am an advocate of the Trenton After School Program and as long as God allows me, I will continue to be a part of the program in anyway possible.

I look at my peers that went to the program, and I compare those to my peers that did not attend the program, and I notice a vast difference in their lives.  TASP students are college bound, more adept to deal with the stresses of everyday life, and productive citizens of the community.  I am the end result of the first class of the Trenton After School Program, and from that class resulted teachers, medical assistants, state workers, etc.  And each year since then, the program has touched the lives of hundreds of children.  I foresee future doctors, lawyers, nurses, accountants, investment bankers, entrepreneurs, pilots, military officials, and most importantly well-rounded adults who have been touched by a program that was started by two churches in Princeton New Jersey.

I thank God for giving you the vision to plant a seed in Trenton each year where a garden of 75 flowers of different types with different needs can be weeded, watered, and nurtured until they can flourish and grow into adulthood.  As the old saying goes, it takes a village to raise a child, and our village extends all the way to Princeton, New Jersey.

Again I would like to thank you for your generosity and for your obedience to adhere to God’s calling of setting up a program that enables students to succeed academically and socially, and for a program where the love of God can be seen and felt. I am able to stand before you today as the woman that I am because you cared and for that I will be eternally grateful.
